While it takes no intellectual effort and honesty to have faith, it takes such things to follow science. I’m not saying all religious people are stupid and dishonest and all scientific minds aren’t, but one can tell the difference.
i hate how the interviewers have so much power over what their guest can say and how it’ll eventually sound to the public.
The interviewer is a bit thick. It was obvious Richard Dawkins was saying Stalin didn’t do anything in the name of atheism but most of humanities atrocities are comitted in the name of religion and he was just cherry picking Dawkins’ words.
@B4IRUTUARU16 Gentlmen? don’t forget the women.
when racism ends, religion ends. they are just birds of different colours flocking together.
@nigispangy
AGREEE 100%
whats the song called in the beginning?
one of my favourite quotes
-religions are like fire fireflies.? they require total darkness in order to shine
lol dont get me started on the islamic faith
gentlemen. rational thinking and science is clearly under attack and it is clear the 21st century has no room for religion this is why they are becoming more agressive
we must fight back
Religion is an insult to human dignity. without it, you’d have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.
religion is merely a brainwashing mechanism
It is so frustrating isnt it. It is so bloody obvious that religion is a load of shit – a complete waste of time. If all these religious idiots could devote the time they do to crude fairy tales to the environment or animal rights of anti child abuse etc the world really would be a better place. And the muslims – how deluded are they???
21st im sorry
i believe its time for all of us to make a stance and say we do not welcome religion in the 2st century
Well this is HardTalk, his job is to be harsh and contradict. It does not mean he disagrees. His job is to put pressure on the man who is interviewed. Just check out some more hardtalk programs and you see they do it everytime.
he’s a lovely fella old Dawkins. Ive nothing but respect for him. He’s decided to take a stance, which is brave in the first place, but hey, we need more people to do this, and he does it so damn eloquently.
I wouldn’t say he is an idiot. He is asking questions that many ask when they have an argument about this. He is actually giving Dawkins a chance to address all the craziness in one go. He is one of the best interviewers in the world apart from one or 2 total botch jobs. He assumes many people are watching and asks from the most obvious to the least obvious questions the rest is left to the interviewee. You may know the answer to that question but there are a lot of people who don’t.
What a idiot interviewer…. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT HORRORS OF TOTALITARIAN ARE RELIGIOUS IN ESSENCE … Go look up George Orwell.
Wow, that was quite profound, were they you’re words? If so, I’m impressed.
molanlabexm15 -It is rather an empty thought isn’t it.If believing ancient fairy tales fills your heart with warmth by all means keep doing so.I prefer to analise the universe for what it is.Life prevails any way it can and we are a product of that.Everything that lives eventually dies without the need of an “afterlife.” That is a manmade idea that stems from our “survival” mechanism in our brain. We dont want 2 die!Even primative beings have this mechanism.Without this there would be no life.
Not to be cruel Molan, but since when does there need to be a reason for human life? For any life? Humans posses the ability to set their own goals, set some, follow them. You don’t need your goals handed down to you. You don’t need a higher purpose than whatever purpose you make for yourself.
Religion deems life meaningless to my eyes.
I don’t want to live eternally, it would cheapen everything.
If I live eternally I will experience everything an infinite number of times.
Everything will be common, nothing will be special and existence will become a blur of greys.
Life is special because it only lasts so long. Its good enough for me, and it is as much as I make of it.
I make a lot of it.
They believe what they know to be true, that the body decomposes and your biology is recycled back into the earth. They do not believe in the immortality of the soul.
I only wish that I could give you several thumbs down…
Its just that, you ‘believe’ that you do. At that back of your mind however, you have that feeling that the concept is just a cushion to make you feel better.
You were lied to at a young age about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, why should this ‘paradise’ be any different?
It was Galileo who said that. And it’s very profound.
“I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.” Galileo.
I find for myself; the more I dig into religion the more manmade I find it to be. I find Christianity asks us to forego reason and put on the blinders of faith. My father use to say, “God is not afraid of your questions.” Turns out for me; he was.
