Love Sam’s eyebrow
i wish the rabbi would shut the fuck up when Harris is trying to make a good point.
STOP INTERRUPTING HIM, WOLPE. Good grief, where are your manners?
the rabbi is rather pleased with himself, isn’t he?
“…Can you create a book which an interpretive community for thousands of years could find nourishment and meaning in…and I know YOU think that’s easy!”
Uh…the point is that for a supposedly ETERNAL AND TIMELESS omniscient and omnipotent being who you believe actually created the entire world and created human beings “in his own image” in the first place, yes that WOULD BE easy.
Morality does not come from religion…. get over yourself.
you lost badly wolpe
Dance Wople dance. Dance around every Question. He must know how far he is streching
7:42 Where is the evidence for what he is saying about Swedon being more generous?
He also doesn’t understand torah.
Harris at the beginning here engages in projection while simiultaneously argues against self-defense. He only vents that he doesn’t like the Bible.
Harris called it apawling absent any measure existing anywhere in the physical world
(yes i can’t spell apawling)
@brian3413
“human product of God’s revelation”
MAN MADE. End of conversation. Without the book, there is no reason to believe. If it’s MAN MADE, that means it’s completely made up out of the minds of men, which are prone to error, misinterpretation, and telling tall tales and lies.
AND, if this God is so powerful. Why not just POOF the book into existence, instead of deluding it through the feeble minds of bronze age sheep herders? Sad when people actually BUY this bullshit…
No, he said it’s a human product of God’s revelation or in other words humans wrote down God’s revelation
The rabbi is correct the bible isn’t verbal record. The bible is inspired by God and through human agents
@ET45349D:
books from the Dalai Lama? you mean, the man anointed to be god himself?
sorry, man, it’s all fairy tale BS.
wolpe from 2:10-2:57 is so FULL OF SHIT. babble.
circular reasoning. wanting to have it both ways.
how such an intelligent man can willfully say such
things and believe them is beyond me. harris, jump
on that shit!
wolpe: “i don’t think that the bible is a verbal record of the revelation of god to human beings; i think that it’s a human product of god’s revelation.”
WTF??? does ANYBODY out there buy this BS???
@ET45349D. I investigated Buddhism for 18 months, practiced meditation (zazen, kinhin, chanting, etc). Went on some retreats; two of them were 5 day events. I bought the books. Meditation is great by itself. It doesn’t need the dogma of Buddhism to be beneficial.
The metaphysics is just made up to make it sound mysterious isn’t it?
@LAnonHubbard It would be a long topic to discuss, go grab some books on metaphisics in Buddhism or books from the Dalai Lama regarding Mind and Life conference like Gentle Bridges or books from Mattieu Ricard on Happiness.
@ET45349D – why do you think that? Please elaborate on why? Based on my knowledge I disagree.
I thought his “weaning” interpretation was novel and interesting. Though I don’t believe it, I’ll look into it more.
@TheGodofAtheists I got the other impression, but I agree with Harris anyway.
Im watching this trying to just take in both sides but David Wolpe is so smug and arrogant
@dfreemusc1
And thus the rabbi admits God is manmade. Check mate!
Only metaphysics Buddhism has the right answer within all this long debate.
