He learned he could acheive celebrity through anti-theist activism.
Harris thinks that if he live 4 thousand years ago he would see things as a modern man does.
Actually atheists (some) DO have holidays. Nature worship is returning in some circles.

Excellent debate. I may not agree with Rev. Wolpe in the slightest, but the level of professionalism, intelligence, good humor, and passion exhibited by all participants in the discussion is fascinating to witness.

@kakahass That’s what Harris has been saying all along: That there are certainly “spiritual” or mental states that can be achieved by anyone willing to take the time,without giving untestable explanations for them. As for saying there is no god, atheists/rationalists only state that there is no evidence for such a being. There is no more evidence for deism than there is for theism.

@ThePhantomBlacksmith I completely agree. The person I would like to see debating FOR god would be Lee Strobel. He is law educated journalist who once was an atheist turned into a theist. His views would be very interesting.

I would like to see Mr. Strobel debate Mr. Harris. Out of all the debaters against god, Mr. Harris is by far my favorite. He is very collective in all his answers.

There are an infinite number of things that “could” exist. However, I am not going to live my life according to the possibility that flying unicorns “could” exist. It is the same with god, but just because there is a punishment for not believing i.e- hell, people are scared into believing, but can’t see that hell is just a tool invented to do just that.

If they could start this debate all over again but replace god with zeus, nothing that was said would change.
Wolpe has nothing to say, it is so obvious that bronze age male inperfectly evolved mammals created god it there own image

@ThePhantomBlacksmith Hey, I completely agree with you, but I wanted to bring up one person I respect tremendously. Reza Aslan did a debate with Sam Harris and it is on youtube. It may be hard to recognize what reza is saying about examples like the muslim brotherhood unless you have a back ground in this (I have taken 3 college courses) but this debate was the only one that I actually felt progress for the future could be made. you’re right, every other debate I’ve seen, no hope for religion
