Christianity vs Athiesm. A debate at Westminster Theological Seminary between Christopher Hitchens, renowned atheist, and Douglas Wilson, renowned Christian author.

Sensational – Hitchens again dominates teh debate with simple logic….
hitchens kicked wilsons ass! common sense ftw!
*sigh* why can’t the atheists (and the ACLU) just leave us alone?!…blah blah
@wilber48234
Who really and truly wants to live forever? What if you really could live forever? I mean, REALLY think about what that would be like. What is it that you would do if you had FOREVER to do it? Does not the fact that life is temporary make it more precious and valuable? If anything is available ad infinitum, it becomes cheap if not worthless. You want to live forever because you’re scared to die, but living forever would be just as scary and disheartening.
these arguments are all shitty. Look Theists need to ask their friend upstairs for a great sign and show up and pull the moon out of their pocket..take that Atheist asshole…fuck if that happens I am there with whoever……
calm down man. the bible is bullshit. if your only proof is that he supposedly came back from the dead then you might as well beleive in any of the other 1000s of gods who also came back from the dead.
#2…therefore christians want to create war instead of avoiding it….i mean….as us human beings….as us being who we are
We have our own will, We have our way to live, We have our own Life!! We dont need a book to tell us how we should live it!!
*sigh* why cant christians just leave us alone?!….im sick and tired of these people coming up to me and saying “if you have no faith in christ (the jewish zombie) you are going to burn in hell!! (mystical fantasy place for bad, naughty people)” listen christians!! if you may not know it, but your so called loving “god” or “christ” is nothing but war!! ever heard of stupid ridiculous preists says “DONT TURN AWAY FROM THE DEVIL (could mean anyone or anything) TURN AND FIGHT IT!!” etc.. #1 con..
Don’t trust in your own “good” works, trust in Christ. See Acts 17:30,31, Acts 4:10-12, Ephesians 2:8,9. Isaiah 64:6 John 3:14-21 and 4:24 and 6:28,29. Romans 6:23. 1st Corinthians 3:18-23 and 2nd Corinthians 5:10,11. And finally Jeremiah 29:13.
Well, in the end there is only one way to heaven and it is faith in Jesus. God is calling all men everywhere to repent of their sins and accept the free gift of eternal life He has provided by TRUSTING in Jesus and His work on the cross for the forgiveness of their sins. There is salvation in no other. He has furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.
the creation speaks of His eternal power and divine nature. But even though they knew God they chose foolish speculation instead of honoring Him. Then their heart was darkened. Speaking of foolish speculation did you see the recent article in Time (or was it Newsweek?), where they had these mythical drawings of animals with say the body of a lizard and the head of a bird? I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Fantastic example of foolish speculation.
Wow, alot of positive comments for Christopher Hitchens. It is alarming to see so many people who are deceived by his “reasoning”. At the end of the day, after all the endless talking and debating on these 11 videos, the basic formula of belief for the atheist is this, that Nothing + Nobody = Everything. That is ridiculous. It is foolish (Psalm 14:1) and even dangerous. The very world they live in and the creation they can see around them tells them of God
“Atheist Girl vs Christian Girl” – New video on my channel.
The ending statement by Hitchens is beautiful and absolutely brilliant.
If u saw spilled milk, u cant ask the milk what happened. However you can with your free thinking mind investigate the seen . Maybe youll see the broken container next to it with cat prints leading away. YOu could then assume it may havr been a cat that spilled it and not god. Same for the universe you cant ask the accident what happened, but you can examine the evidence and use reason
Hitchens really finished off well.
I really enjoyed this debate. Great to see the two acting so civil to each other.
Wilson’s commentary was awful just awful. He completely missed every point and had nothing but allegorical metaphors. Though Wilson is better than Dinesh D’Sousa who also has no points to make and is shreakingly shrill to boot. So Wilson wasn’t shrill that’s one point to his credit.
I’d give him a shot…do you think he prefers whiskey, gin, scotch? It’s clear “He” drinks, despite what my Baptist brethren would say, see his first “miracle” for confirmation… 8-P
Give Jesus a shot and your life will change.
Well that comment argued itself. The point of atheism isn’t to be wonderful or awesome, like religion. It is not meant to pander to our fears, or dreams, it is simply the search for truth regardless if that truth sucks. Atheists are NOT people who want to believe whatever suits them, they don’t want to blind themselves or be lied to. They simply want truth and fact, not fairy tales and fiction. Apparently you characteristically ignored the other side of the argument or you’d know that.
all the same, thanks for having me. lol
From nowhere, no. Not having a god, doesn’t change purpose. People are idiots and often wrong and if we do die and go nowhere, you will neither know, nor care and it won’t change the facts. Sorry you can’t find purpose in your life without an allpowerful dictator to write your life for you. Considering billions of stars all devoid of life so far as we know…looks like random chance to me.
We accidently came from nowhere,we’re here for no reason,we have nothing to look forward to. Atheism is awesome woo hoo.
Wait, my brain, which I reasoned with is a product of this accidental process too, so what if my brain is wrong, how can I trust my brain?Nevermind atheism is great, yeah baby, when I die………oh’ wait that’s future tense, can’t be as sure as I am about the past or can I? I got it, my purpose is to be a smart accident!
Fantastic speech by Hitchens as often. In these couple of minutes he sums up everything that people need to know about religious idiocy.
I also admire his ability to repeatedly speak against a solid brick wall without getting tired >:o)
Amen!
