As sabbath ends tonight, Jews begin one of the most joyous holidays, Purim. Purim honors Persian Jews’ salvation from Haman, who tried to kill them in 356 before the common era. The word Purim literally means “lots” because Haman chose the day to kill Jews by holding a lottery.
