And then in this program we want to take a look at a specific example of what we are talking about. We realize an extreme example, but it does reflect a wider tendency and drift towards Christless Christianity that probably evangelicals would not have been attracted to in the 30s and 40s and 50s but today Joel Osteen is now considered an Evangelical leader. If Charles Finney’s legacy helps us to understand how we arrived at the current crisis, Joel Osteen the Pastor of Lakewood church in Houston, Texas may be the clearest example in contemporary American religion. Name it/claim it, heath and wealth, or prosperity gospel, these are nicknames for a heresy that in many respects is an extreme version of perhaps the most typical focus of American Christianity today more generally. It’s true: Osteen does apparently think it’s a good thing God looks at our hearts. Brrr. I thank God that’s not the basis of His salvation!
It’s just heresy. Plain old heresy. There’s plenty of it in this world. And appearing repeatedly on Larry King, selling millions of books and having a congregation of tens of thousands is no endorsement of anyone’s spiritual bona fides.

Joel doesn’t speak of Christ because he doesn’t want to alienate any potential customers.
He is nothing more than a motivational speaker. I know a lot of atheists who watch his show and think they are in some kind of ‘safety zone’ with God. They hate Christians; but they have no problem with Joel.

First of all, the edomites as a race do not exist, the amalikites their cousin do, and maybe some blood ties to the edomites are still tied to the Arabs. And concerning them in scripture, such as God’s retribution in Obadiah 18, Isaiah 34, Ezekiel 35 and others does not apply to Christians, even if they had that blood line in them. “For, there is no condemnation to those in Christ” this means that any curses that God has deemed on a race would not apply to that individual.
