It hurts me because some say I do not have a choice. that is like saying to a murderer ” you will never change , you’ll always be that way” that hurts guys. that is what I have been hearing. it is not positive. I felt just as much pressure from the homosexual community as I did from my “religious” friends. I got so tired of them telling me that I was always going to be that way . “just accept it” they never tried to help me change or saw ways to help me be happier. its the same.
I have attractions to girls. I never really felt connected mentally to men . partially because of the men I had as examples all around me. but my husband has a problem with pornography. It is the same. just because we have the urge does not mean we should say it is okay. Everyone sees the damage if a man cheats on his wife because it feels good at the time. but we have a problem seeing the same damage when it is us. I have found happiness in facing my fears instead of hiding. yes I can choose.

I still can’t believe some people really think anyone just “becomes” gay. It just baffles my mind. No matter what you say to them, some people seriously think that. It’s crazy. Look at this girl that committed suicide? It’s not somebody who just “wants” to be different. I’m sure there are few cases where some think they have to be gay because they have some crazy notion it’s cool. Normal childhood and religious childhood…She didn’t become gay, she was gay from the beginning…

I think u are probably right. as people I’ve seen become gay as a result of harrassment, do not stay gay. It seems to be temporary. something they do to adapt to a situation.
udaan, while this is conceivably possible, I suggest you take a look at “is it a choice” (clip in related videos bar for me at least).
There is always variation, but Genes have been shown to have an extremely strong correlation with one’s sexual orientation.
I know everyone thinks this is so, but kids can be temporarily confused. I’ve seen it happen to my friends. I am told humans are adapt, they adapt to abuse over long periods of time, kids adapt to situations of sexual harrassment: i.e. from people in authority. The city I’m from is very large, in the inner city so many people take advantage of kids and noone protects them.

kids need to be protected from adult predators. whether they are gay or hetrosexual. kids can easily convinced they are gay thru same sexual harrassment by adults because they aren’t ready to make those decisions. kids have got to be protected from sexual harrassment by adults.
Thanks for posting this segment. While many of us aren’t emotionally effected by religious dogma, those who were brainwashed as children, such as the mother and daughter in this video, ARE emotionally affected. The daughter committed suicide. The mother’s attitude was a part of the daughter’s decision. But religion was the primary instigator. It really IS time to reverse the respect for preachers. Not lower it, REVERSE it! All Abrahamic religions are vile and society should reagrd them as such.
